1. More Durable - Basic Coatings products were tested with a Tiber Abrasion machine. This test determines a coatings' resistance to abrasion. Resisance to abrasion is defined as the ability of a coating to withstand mechanical action such as scuffing or erosion.
StreetShoe® 275 Taber Abrasion readings were 5 times more resistant than the average competitive Oil Modified Urethane.
2. Less VOC
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. These gases can have adverse health effects. They also combine with other elements in the presence of sunlight to form smog, a major air pollutant. Thus the government has begun restricting the amount of VOC's that can be included in certain products.
Waterbased coatings typically have half as much VOC content as the traditional Oil Modified Urethane (OMU).
Basic Coatings waterbased finishes produce less odor than fragrant OMU's.
Green: Several of Basic® Coatings waterbased finishes meet the strictest of government regulations and LEED requirements.
3. Faster Dry Times - Multiple coats of waterbased finish can be applied in one day. The coating job will take less time and the floor can be back in use faster.
4. Faster Cure Times - StreetShoe® and StreetShoe®275 are the fastest curing finishes on the market. Both are 90% cured in 24 hours. This means less downtime and you can be back on the floor faster. It also means that VOC is removed from the floor faster.
5. Less Yellowing - Waterbased finishes will retain a clear non-yellowing appearance. OMU finishes develop an unsightly yellow appearance over time.
If you don't want a clear look but still would like to use a waterbased coating, a stain can be used to change the appearance.
Emulsion from Basic Coatings has more color than typical waterbased urethanes.
6. Non-flammable - OMU's contain petroleum distillates, which are combustible or flammable. Waterbased finishes are not combustible nor flammable.
The vapors of OMU's are also combustible or flammable. Pilot lights and other sources of spark must be turn off during the application of OMU finishes.
Mineral spirits or solvents are needed to clean applicators or accidental spills when using OMU's. Rags and other materials that have residue from OMU's on them must be stored in safety containers to prevent spontaneous combustion.
Basic Coatings now offers StreetShoe 275 - its lowest VOC formula of the legendary StreetShoe XL . This product meets all US regulations for VOC compliance. StreetShoe 275 has several new benefits:
- Same toughness as the original StreetShoe XL
- Easy to apply. Can even be applied with a roller.
- Self leveling.
- Resists tannin pull in tough-to-finish species like white oak.
Basic Coating's Dry Time Extender is an additive that slows the dry time of their water based finishes. While not needed in all situations, it can be extremely beneficial when the temperature , humidity or airflow are not favorable.
Basic Coatings Amberizer is an additive for water based finishes to give the appearance of aged oil modified urethanes.

The Model 445 has a safety trigger & interlocking safety mechanism to prevent discharging when not in nailing position or upon dropping the nailer on the plunger.
This flooring nailer is a must for the contractor who wants one flooring nailer which can do it all. Using 18 gage cleats, the Powernail 50P Flex is recommended for use on 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" Tongue and Groove flooring as well as 3/4" exotics, bamboo, and other solid wood flooring. Using the adjustable foot, you can fine-tune the nailer height according to different wood profiles. No need for extra shims and pads! The Powernail Flex uses an 18 gage cleat that is less likely to split the tongue on denser, more brittle woods. It is also recommended for flooring that is a very hard species like hickory. Many of the hard exotics available today require a thinner cleat to penetrate without splitting the tongue. The standard configuration is (L/S), Long Handle with Short Channel, which holds 100 Powercleats®. Long handle configuration provides 18" height from floor to handle grip. Nailer package includes a White 3mi Mallet, 2 Allen wrenches, user manual, lube oil, extra driving blade and 2 box wrenches. Requires a 70 to 110 psi air compressor. Also available, the new Powernail 50P FLEX conversion kit will modify any Model 50P to the new Powernail FLEX adjustable foot.
